Got an extremely overpriced oil change and with that a quote for an engine mount repair: $440 for the part, $900 for labor. Bought the part myself for $275 and installed it in under 4 hours. Asked if they could just quickly reset a code, quoted $90 for labor. It takes literally 30 seconds. They do good work which is why it's 2 stars and not 1, but be prepared to pay 2-3x average prices and make sure you know exactly what their labor charges are before agreeing to anything. EDIT: Yikes, very poor attention to detail in their reply - I don't have an X3. Most other places in this (already expensive) area are ~$150 oil change for European cars. 1/2 hour labor for $90 to press five buttons is predatory and yes you can borrow an OBD2 from AutoZone to clear the codes. "Common in the industry" - nearly every shop I have ever been to does scanning for free. A shop literally right up the road cleared a code on my Camry for free a few months ago. Even if it was common (it isn't, or I'm just very lucky) it would still be price gouging. There's an OBD2 scanner on Amazon that works on BMWs and can clear codes for $20. Why not try to be better than everyone else?
Hi Jesse, sorry to hear you are unhappy with our pricing. We pride ourselves on being very good at what we do and charge accordingly. (usually about $200 for oil changes on the european cars we service) We get that we aren't for everyone and wish you the best on your X3 going forward Regading code scanning/clearing etc. We charge a minimum of 1/2 hour labor for any code scanning/clearing etc. That is fair, and pretty common in this industry. I know advance auto parts will do free code scans but not sure if their tool will reset BMW seatbelt lights. Might be worth a try. Also-feel free to reach out for tool recommendations in the future to allow you to clear faults on your own at no charge (minus the tool cost of course). Good Luck with the X3 going forward, J and F
